Thank you for your interest in the College Preparatory Academy. The Academy is a school within a school that will assist students in attaining acceptance into the college of their choice through a rigorous academic program, project based studies, experiential learning, and regional, national, and international tavel experiences.
In grades 5-8, students will come for one afternoon each week to the Mofford Center in Globe. They will study foreign language and work on projects that combine content areas in an integrated approach that will compliment and enhance studies in their regular classrooms.
During the high school years, many classes will be taken in the student’s home school with regular school faculty. If a particular AP class is not offered at the student’s home school, the student may be able to take the class by ITV, or may have the option to come to the Globe campus for that particular course.
Students will enjoy a wide variety of travel opportunities that may include local and area field trips, visits to college campuses, and travel abroad. A variety of summer programs will also be available through area universities and other entities.
During the sophomore year, students may participate in the cultural exchange program and spend two weeks in China. The summer after the Sophomore year, students are required to assist with planning and teaching the Summer Enrichment Program for children ages 4-10. After the Junior year, students may choose from several locations for a 4-8 week study abroad program. During the senior year, students will participate in the Close Up program in the Washington, D.C. area.
